Pop-Up Shops: Why Retailing with a Time Limit Is Hot

Despite the negative sales forecasts for the holiday shopping season, now might be the right time to open a store. As long it's going to go away. » Full Story on news.yahoo.com

Intersting idea. What'll go wrong are the jerkwads who open popups to scam you into fake merchandise & then disappear. You're left with a wannabe DKNY pair of jeans, glasses, etc. Best option, if the popup's not related to a major retailer, avoid it like the plague.

Yeah, the REAL reason behind this phenomena is greedy landlords who double and triple the rents on regular clients and then fill the vaccuum when they leave, until they find some sucker who will pay the exhorbitant rent. This is a regular thing in L.A., where retail space is WAY overpriced. This whole practice came into being especially as Middle Eastern property owners began to take over here. They are total slimeballs to deal with.

Oh yeah.....

I can't wait to buy something from a store that will be gone faster than the Chinese junk they sell falls apart.
