Fort Hood suspect said his goodbyes before rampage (AP)

AP - As if going off to war, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan cleaned out his apartment, gave leftover frozen broccoli to one neighbor and called another to thank him for his friendship — common courtesies and routines of the departing soldier. Instead, authorities say, he went on the killing spree that left 13 people at Fort Hood, Texas, dead. » Full Story on Yahoo! News

Well put James! Why can't the media just say it! If he was a Christian or Jewish devout, they would have splashed that information all over it.

Violence is indicative of a weak mind and consciousness. This is all so sad.

It's a crying shame that our soldiers can not even be safe here in our own country! What's really going on? Where's our backbone? If the President would shut off our borders and beef up our military, this would not be happening!!

This just goes to show how much stress the men and women of the Armed Forces are under. They go over seas and risk their lives for up to a year and get to come home for just a few months or even weeks, to just leave again. And now we have a president that stated in while he was running for president that he would take the troops out of Iraq. Well, he is keeping with his word, but is now sending them to Afganistan without much time to "reset" their minds and bodies or to even spend with their families. People dont care for the military like they used to. Its turning into another Vietnam era and the government is doing nothing about it. Just sending more troops over and not caring what happens when the get back. Theses troops need time. Time that they are not being given.

What a big surprise, another muslim scumbag killing people. If every muslim (lower case "m", of course) would drop dead right now, what a better world it would be. I don't apologize and I couldn't care less who I offend--there are far too many sensitive-types nowadays passing themselves off as "enlightened". There's nothing enlightened about being a pathetic sissy letting other people plant their boots into the back of your acquiescing head.

There needs to be a policy in place requiring ALL personel to checkin their defensive tools - knives, handguns and what other items they use in the ling of defense. I do not question all the officers in the military however the policy would bring saftey to the other officers just in case someone AGAIN takes advantage of their surrounding and abuse the integrity of all personal and Government.
Safety first.

IWhy do we insist on making ourselves politically correct targets, refusing to own up to the fact that Islam promotes violence, not peace? It's hard enough for soldiers who need help to reach out to someone for it, and when they do we make it a f*cking MUSLIM doctor? All I can hope for is that with each incident like this, (remember the grenade attack by a Muslim "soldier"?) will ultimately lead us to call Islam what it is-- a religion of Jihad, especially while we are fighting their extremists on two fronts. My condolences to the families left behind...now instead of always "praying" for things to get better,(and I'm all for that too) let's start MAKING them better.

May all our hearts be with the victims and their families. In no way is this at all a good thing. but let's be thankful that there weren't any children or minors involved in the incident.

Geeee this is great. Lets let more islamic "people" into our military. Im so glad that some brass has their heads so far up their ass that they alowed people like this in. All the Army cares about right now is how many people they can get in. They are not screening people like they should be and are alowing pretty much anyone to join now. Great thinking. On another note they do nothing to help the Soldiers who have come home from Iraq and Afgan who have PTSD. I know quite a few people that have changed for the worse and even when they cried out for help they got crapped on by higher ranks. How about we stop alowing terrorists into the country and treat thoes who need the counsling. Thank you that is all..... A lot of rant but I cant think clearly with how angry I have become at current situations..

It is very painful to see young lives dying for a mistaken US policy of making war all over the world. This incident does no surprise me. All we have to do is think how we would feel if the world's greatest power was killing our cousins with drones, had been doing so for years. Eventually, I think some of us would snap which is what happened in this case. My heart goes out to the young men and women who died and their families. Perhaps we should not train any more of our children to go fight. We need to remember that Muslims and Arabs come in all forms shapes and sizes and from many countries including Christian; they call consider themselves as brothers.

the soldier's name says it all. these people have invaded this country many years ago, fit in to society, get a free education, get paid with our tax dollars and the whole time they had their hidden agenda! this is only the beginning whats to come, they have been here too long, kick anyone out that wasn't born here, and give back the jobs to the people who actually want to be here.

Hasan’s shooting is the result of Obama policies and statements over 10 months in office that have empowered the anti-war movement and those few, cowardly soldiers like Hasan who were too chicken to fight in Iraq and Afghanistan. Hasan was said to be dissatisfied about being ordered to fight in Iraq and Afghanistan, so when he hears Obama promise everyone he’s going to end said wars and also continually blame the US by apologizing to all the Muslims, it makes Islamofascists like Hasan angrier and angrier when he’s still told to go fight for the US! Note how in eight years of Dubya, not one case of a US soldier killing fellow soldiers stateside ever occurred. But now after several months of Obama and his Blame America policies…look at how Obama seems to have empowered or motivated these Islamic, US soldiers to act out in their hatred for the US! It can’t be a coincidence that Obama’s presidency thus far is marred by more instances and more extreme instances like this compared to Dubya.

What's the motive???? Come on people using "logic and sense", these soldiers are coming back from the Middle East with several chronic and deep mental issues. That's your motive morons.

Call it discrimination, racial profiling whatever. get em the hell out of here and CERTAINLY should not have access to the amazing men and women in our military. They deserve so much better from all of us than what they get.

It seems to me that since the proliferation of the internet and the anonimity it provides weaklings, that vitriolic comments have risen exponentially. It also appears that when tragedies occur, as long as the perp. isn't a member of "our" race, religion or creed, we "slide into the abyss" by blaming all members of the "guilty", unwashed group.

Yes Mohammad was a pedophile who preached violence. It was "Death to America" day in Iran last week. We should have bombed the Saudis after 9/11 as almost all of the hijackers were from that warped and evil country. They preach death to America in their Wahhabi mosques and degrade their women. I say "Death to the Saudis" and wish we could place an A-Bomb right over Mecca. They are the source of evil and finance almost all of the terrorism in the world.
