European court: No crucifixes in Italian schools (AP)

AP - The Vatican on Tuesday denounced a ruling by the European court of human rights that said the display of crucifixes in Italian public schools violates religious and education freedoms. » Full Story on Yahoo! News

Then religious head gear should be banned to, it is after all a religious statement.

To ban a religious (material artifact) is no problem, your problem will start as soon as you ban prayer in your schools, see U.S.A. school history after prayers in the school was banned.do Columbine school
massacre sounds familiar.

"RELIGION IS POISON" - Chairman Mao

There should be a separation of Church and State. Crucifixes and other religious symbols belong in a Church, Temple, Mosque, and other "holy" places - and only there.

If you look behind the scenes you will be that our two back stabbing Jewish friends are behind this.

The EU's central government should not have that kind of authority. When member states get sick of having their cultures assaulted, hopefully they will be able to opt out without a civil war. Too late for the rest of us.

So much for respect for indiginous cultures. Only applies to the third world, I guess.

It is ridiculous to assume for these immigrants that they would not feel welcome or would feel better if religious symbols are not there, etc. I mean come on!!! I am an immigrant myself. If I move to a country, I learn the culture and the people and the traditions! Meaning they have 4th of July parties and halloween and I don't at my old country well big deal! I celebrate it with the natives! Immerse myself and learn the language. You don't like then go be an immigrant somewhere else. As far as I am concerned I have two very cool countries I consider "home" and they are both different and I love it and respect both.

So let's see. First, the European court on civil rights says crucifixes have to come down. Then the Catholic Church objects, saying it is a slap in the face to Italians who take their christian beliefs and the impact it has on Italian history very seriously. They don't want the religious symbol taken down.

I guess no one spoke with Antonin Scalia. He said that the cross was not a religious symbol of Christianity. Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, and others are all covered under the cross. That's why so many Muslims, Jews, Buddhists and others have crosses on their grave stones and religious institutions. Scalia is just one piece of work, isn't he?

If you are Christian, you probably can't see how the cross in the school impacts nonchristians. I am a Jew. I remember having to sing songs in school to the baby Jesus. It was offensive to me. I should not have been put in that position. If you can't understand the problem, you won't get it.

ya whatever.. This world is going to hell in a handbag.. First lets take prayer out of schools and call it a moment of silence.. Okay if it is meant to be a religous freedom thing, then the people that dont believe in God, should step outside the classroom. Whether you ar Christian, Catholic, Jew, Whatever...Ya lets take God out of our schools... You can already see whats happening... Now dumbasses over there in Euro.. are pulling the same s*** ..

More insanity from the left. The left will not be happy until displaying religious or national affiliation of any kind in any place is banned. Display a flag on your front porch or put a cross in the foyer of your own home will someday be criminalized. Yet, they will applaud someone affiliated with NAMBLA and vigorously defend a child Rapist.
Ludicrous!

I would say that Italy as stupid to allow a European Court to have control over their personal lives....

But here in America the left is working overtime to make sure that global courts can override our own U.S. Constitution....

Here in the US, states gradually gave up their rights in return for "federal monies" and now we are going to sell our country to the global communities for "world monies"....

Day by day, our constitutional rights are being taken away and people simply let it happen....

It wouldn't be so bad if we lost our rights due to our own stupidity, but we are losing the rights of future Americans, all because of our own ignorance, laziness and greed.

I am missing what the grave threat is to people who see a religious symbol. Is it like when a vampire sees a cross they start to burn?
And another thing, if there are no religious symbols does that mean the government is promoting atheism? I am Christian and if I see a star of David it doesn't seem to have any kind of effect. As long as someone isn't espousing or orating their belief what is the big fuss about a symbol??

Good move Europe, now if we could only get the separation of church and state to rid the Pledge of the "God" addition and get God off our money- Stuns me that the Christians don't find THAT a sacrilege anyway.

Religion will be the end of us all. They are hell bent on annihilation- all those desert religions and their vicious God.

SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE is a BEDROCK PRINCIPLE of democracy.

This ruling is a great moment in the advancement of humanity toward greater enlightenment.

It is good that they have struck down these laws to post crucifixes in schools ENACTED BY THE FASCISTS in the 1920s

I WONDER IF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH WILL GO OUT AND START KILLING PEOPLE WHO DISAGREE WITH THEM, AS THEY HAVE DONE SO MANY TIMES IN THE PAST, AS RECENTLY AS THE 1940s IN THE BALKANS.

Christianity:

The belief that a certain cosmic Jewish zombie who was born of a virgin can make you live for ever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him that you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree.

Makes perfect sense really.

NEWS FLASH TO ALL THE RIGHT WING MORONS WHO DID NOT READ THE ARTICLE:

1) The law suit was brought by a SECULAR NATIVE-BORN ITALIAN who did not want her child being brainwashed in a state-sanctioned religion.

2) Muslims had NOTHING to do with the ruling.

SORRY TO RUIN YOUR DAY, ALL YOU RIGHT-WING CHRISTIAN HATERS OF PEOPLE WHO DO NOT SHARE YOUR WARPED VIEW OF THE WORLD.

When in Rome ..... If you move to a country that the majority is catholic, don't bitch and complain about their practice. It was their choice to move there. I would not go to Mecca and start asking them to change their traditions and believes for me. I am in their land. Same goes for Europe.

Now if only the catholic would be banned ! As a former brain-washed catholic, I can tell you that it is the worst of the worst religions !
It is 100% MAN MADE.....starting with the MAN MADE WRITTEN bible. Written by Bronze Age man who thought the earth was flat. Religion was invented to control peoples, and to calm the fears of peoples who couldn't figure out the answers as to how the world worked. The world then was frightening, they wanted answers so they "imagined" them up. Plain & simple. the earth evolved by natural conditions....no " god " needed. People, read something other than your religious propaganda !

What a shame. Instead, why not allow and encourag the display of crucifixes, say, on Sundays, menorahs on Saturdays, Satanic Pentagons on Tuesday, Voodoo dolls on Wednesday, etc? Wouldn't that be better? Think how much children could learn and broaden their minds about the religions of others rather than just one that thinks it is the only religion?

This is obviously the work of Satan and the European court is run by his demons. It is time for all Christians to unite and pray because everything that is happening today is just as the scriptures prophesized. Our salvation is near and when the Lord returns he will come with vengeance to make a final judgment on all of mankind. "So let it be written, so let it be done."

I WAS BORN CATHOLIC, AND I WENT TO A CATHOLIC GRADE SCHOOL AND I HAD NO PROBLEM LEARNING OR DOING MY STUDIES. I AM SORRY TO THE PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT CATHOLIC BUT THAT IS OUR SYMBOL AND THAT IS OUR RELIGION. LEAVE THE SIGN OF THE CROSS HANGING UP IN SCHOOLS.
