The MSM is trying to convince us that we are not screwed. I think they should step back from their advertisers wallets and look at the people's wallets. Eventually we must buy things as obsolessence is built into products to keep the profits rolling in.

The problem though is that when the economy starts to recover (as it always does), the economy will stall because there is going to be stagflation. We will have lots of money in the economy but nothing to buy with the money because there will be no goods (at least goods made in America) because of all the new enviromental regulations. We won't have any gas to run our cars or electricity to run our shops. Interest rates will have to soar in order for people to buy our treasuries and so on Welcome to the USSR you don't know how lucky you are boy.
Where is the AP getting their information? Consumer confidence soars......are they high? It would be nice if the media would quit kissing the butt of Obama and report facts and the true feelings of the people across this great land.

More Americans than ever are losing their jobs every day, so how can rising consumer confidence be a hopeful sign. I guess it all depends in how you do (rig) the survey to suit political interests.

It is good news that consumers are gaining confidence. However, since most Americans are so deep in consumer debt from living beyond their means, how does this really help an unsustainable economy that requires the majority of American households to live on ever growing consumer debt?
Before we can breathe easy and look to long lasting prosperity, we must learn as a nation how to live within our means. Since our Government is spending us to oblivion, I do not see reason to celebrate just yet.
I go to the mall, and it's virtually empty. The few people there are just strolling. Downtown the parking garages are empty - people don't have jobs to go to. The economy is grinding to a halt before the collapse comes, just as Obama's people planned it.
If McCain and Palin had won the election what would they have done to
address the:
Banking system?
Auto industry?
Two wars and the cost of those wars?
Health Care?
Education?
Energy?
World relations?
Just curious if the conservations have a plan.

I think their barometer is broke. I don't know anybody that thinks things are on an upswing. This sounds like more media b******* to me. There are more foreclosures than ever and the only ones buying homes are the vultures that buy them cheaply. People are getting laid off by the thousands and the credit card companies and banks are robbing us blind. The government has buried us so far in debt that your greatgrand kids will be paying thru the nose for 100 years WHERE IS THIS ROSEY PICTURE THE MEDIA IS TRYING TO PAINT

Americans everywhere are losing jobs,losing homes and losing their minds.
I know a few families who has applied for a loan modification/refinances and their mortgage lender has yet to do anything helpful for them.
The kicker is this is after the bailout where tons of money was given to these same mortgage lenders to ease the burden of homeowners.
The lenders are not helping anyone...instead they are KEEPING the money! WAKE UP AMERICA!

Reading the Buzz negative comments run about 10 to 1 against the policies, spending and national security agenda of this Admin. My family was insulted by NBC, MSNBC and the liberial papers calling them Muntants and racist rednecks. Tea Parties were a great idea and right now we need a large event in DC. in front of the white house and the capital building telling Nancy the Dictator, Barney the lier and tax evader and Harry the weasel we do not want this agenda. I am awaiting the call and hope the organizers of the first tea party can pull together one massive demonstration in DC. The elitests, the Democratic party wants a one party rule and they are doing all they can to push through their agenda without OUR representives even having a vote. This is what the revolution was about, taxation without representation.

They sorta left out that most people are getting their tax returns about now. Mine went to paying bills and getting food, and I'm still way behind, mortgage company "Wells Fargo" won't help, bank "BOA" won't help. So my consumer confidence is down the toilet along with America!
