La. judge done after flap over interracial wedding (AP)

AP - At least four times in the last 2 1/2 years, Keith Bardwell says he refused to marry interracial couples while serving as a Louisiana justice of the peace. » Full Story on Yahoo! News

Man. What time zone is this idiot from? Doesnt he realize or know how many interracial couples are out there and that he would get his ass handed down to him? What a total ignorant, moronic, pond sucking piece of s***

What a self-righteous, racist jerk. He is the one who should not be allowed to parent children.

He his going with his conscience, which a judge should not. He is to obey the law not put in his personal opinions. He is a closet bigot and does not know it. Children of mixed couples come out fine. I have know many. Maybe in the Bible belt it might be a problem but not in most of the US. He just is ignorant. He should have left a long time ago.

Good. The proper response to racism is to declare it is wrong, not to enable it by denying people their rights in order to "protect the children".

Well, you make your bed hard, lay on it. Maybe this situation will send messages to many other people who sneaks around at night, with white sheets over their heads. Time is changing, and we need to change with the time, instead of living in the 40's.

It's a shame the Judge can't voice an opinion, it's about race alright, against a white Judge, if he had of been black, this would have never hit the news!!!!!!!!!!!!!

im not politically correct ..if pressures from outside can make a judge decide against his or her better intentions,,,then all justice is dead..and our system of justice is made null and void...
id rather see this
as for him to go against his grain ...
others will do what he wouldnt, right wrong or otherwise...now its clear skies for all of them..
lets move on

Get a grip people. We need to be balanced. The same people who argued for his removal recently tried to get a law rammed down out throats that says if a medical person of any level felt that your treatment, drugs, etc raised concerns with their religious beliefs they did not have to provide you with your needed medical care.

I would rather see a JP opt out of participating in a marriage ceremony than see some pimple faced jr do gooder refuse me my prescriptions because their belief system is offended. This is all in Louisiana, the home of Bobby Jindal, the supposed 2nd coming of something.

Doesn't surprise me since this is coming from Louisiana. the only thing they approve of if you are black is if you can run a 4.5 40 and score touchdowns.

Maybe he like others are just tired of the state tax dollars having to raise children of branded women.

so if you state your beliefs you are wrong? He was polite about it and refered them to someone else so what is the problem. I do not believe in mixed marriages either but that does not make me a bad person. If the good Lord wanted us mixed then he would not have made such a multitude of beautiful races. Every one would be dull gray or something.

I'm not prejudice but this is a judge and he can judge whether he wants to marry them or anybody. He did marry 2 black folks-that makes him none prejudice. And besides he referred them to someone else-good grief-get over it people. They got married right?-no one stopped them. If you talk about discrimination it happens within your own race.

He backed what he believed in. He has the right to refuse service just like anywhere else. He even told where themof others who would marry them and now they make it a federal case. DISGUSTING!! Whites have the right to back what they believe in just as much as any other color out there!! They got married just fine by someone else...jesus...like they would WANT to be married by someone who doesn't believe in their marriage. The new married couple just found a way to sue someone for some fast cash. I hope they end up divorced now. Reverse discrimination completely.

Is it really? I never heard of that! Are you looking for wealthy men? I know a hot and interesting place named Billionairepal.com where I have met my boyfriend. You may take a look.

"We're saddened that it took national attention to this issue, which was decided back in 1967 by the Supreme Court, and also that it took public admonishment from other elected leaders in order for him to resign," Catlett said.

No you're not...

As I see it
The Judge was wrong in what he did and shouldn't be a judge any longer. One the other side of the coin-sueing him is just another way for people to go after people for money. They are no better than the judge for trying to profit on a bad situation that got national attention. They should be happy to be married and be spending there time making a life for themselves.
In reality no one really cares.

My son is mixed, and I hear all the time, from every race, how adorable he is, and how handsome...trust me...he is NOT suffering in any way from being half black/half white. He is a great kid that is respectful of all human beings, just as it should be.

I am a white woman who has dated black men. I do not discriminate and I don't agree with what this judge did. But I DO support his right to stand up for what he believes in. He didn't call these people nasty names or tell them they shouldn't get married. He simply said HE doesn't perform marriages for interacial couples and told them who else would. I think it's sad that they made him retire over that. The world is getting WAY too over sensitive.

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal said that the judge was wrong and should have resigned already.

Is Jindal still the Golden Boy for 2012?

They were given a list of people qualified to marry them. Why did they pick this justice? Could it be they knew he would refuse and just wanted their 15 minutes of fame plus a reason to sue. They were married so it wasn't a hindrance to their desire to marry. Was the suit settled?

He should fight being terminated. He had a right to his opinion and this couple just want attention. NOT a big deal. Boo HOO. The couple stated they wanted a special wedding? Who the Hell thinks a wedding is special if done by a JP? Really dumb. I don't care what interracial couples do but I think it is stupid. There are enough stuggles in marriages without mixes race and adding many more problems to the situation. READ statistics. I hope the JP sues

I think the judge did the right thing by referring them to another judge. That was 100% his choice. While a judge, he is not obligated to perform the marriage if he is not comfortable in doing so! With that said, where he screwed up on, was the fact that he made a comment about why he didn't want to do it. I do not believe this would be an issue if he would have just passed.

As far as the whole law suit thing goes...that's silly. You got what you wanted with no hindrance...move on!
