My kids were playing with those lasers while we were driving at night and I notice a policeman riding behind us for a bit until we pulled into a mini mart.

2 years is a bit 2 much. Community service and a letter of apology should be it. Soon they will be throwing children in prison for this stuff. Our society has a hard time separating the consequences for stupid criminals and HARD criminals. My taxes pay for prisons and I would like to keep them open for Violent and dangerous criminals.

If one or both of those planes had crashed, the loss of life would have been horrific. If the pilot's eyesight was damaged permanently, his career would have been over. I think the idiot got off too easy.

Dave, even the typical laser pointer can be hazardous and cause long term eye damage if handled improperly. If it's being used for anything other than a presentation aid, it's being used improperly. Kids have no business playing with them.

Perfect example of technology, it is a great thing until some nut decides to use it for other purposes.

He got off too easy! This man is clearly an adult, aware of the implications of his behavior and Recklessly Endangered the lives of hundreds of passengers on these 2 planes plus those on the ground. And if the pilots' eyes were damaged and that effected their employment - they'd have the right to Sue this jerk for more than he's worth. This perp was NOT a child, and hopefully not a Terrorist. Sentence sets the tone for those who might consider such dangerous, half-ass behavior in the future.

This activity is world-wide. All pilots should wear laser safe glasses.

This is the kind of ignorance we are breeding in this country today. A stupid 37 year old man that has nothing better to do then hit two passenger jet planes with a laser. At the time of his dirty deed he was probably laughing but I bet he isn't any longer. When he is in prison he will have more then laser beams hitting him in the aS*, it will be the devils instrument.
