A strike on election day. What a surprise.
When the Air Traffic Controllers went on strike under Reagan he simply fired them. If the ATC system can function after everyone was fired I’m sure a transit system can. How difficult is it to train a new bus driver?
I was hurt by the strike of '05. I’d leave Drexel Hill at 4am to hustle in hopes of getting a 5am train in Lansdowne, to get to work before 8am. I’d get home around 9pm after leaving work an hour early. It was only a week long, but I won’t forget it. $52K isn’t anything to laugh at, many people in that area don't make that much. To have a job paying that much with one of the most unreliable trans systems I've ever seen, and to still strike for more money is sad. When will someone step up & offer Philadelphia public transit riders an alternative? SEPTA has been poorly managed ever since I lived there (from 97-07), & it’s sad that they are causing tens of thousands of people more frustration. Be thankful you have a job, be glad it pays $52K/year. I understand that the job can be stressful & riders aren't always pleasant & friendly, nor do they keep their buses and trains clean, I bet there are lots of people ready to take that job for less money if offered.
The economy is really at a bust...
the robots should be jumping through flaming hoops to keep their cycle of debt going at full speed.
I feel for the commuters, the unions have to be crazy to think they deserve a 9% wage increase over 4 years even when they're already making 52K a year. They should be very thankful they have a job in this economy. Stop complaining, at least you have a job, unlike the millions of unemployed Americans who don't.
typical union thugs. fire the whole lot of sob's. i hope they stay out and are forced to accept 5 cents later on fully making it worth their ignorancy.
