Unemployment rate hits 10.2%, worst since 1983 (CNNMoney.com)

The nation's unemployment rate rose above 10% for the first time since 1983 in October, a much worse jump than expected as employers continued to trim jobs from payrolls. » Full Story on Yahoo! Finance

It's far worse than what they state.

It does NOT include people who are no longer eligible for unemployment but are still seeking work.

Additionally, it does not include the self-employed, who may have lost most, if not ALL of their income.

Statistics are only as good as the data they are based upon.

I believe unemployment is up above 25-30%. And with that, I am also figuring those part-timers that only have 20-30 hour work weeks. A large percentage of jobs out there right now, shouldn't be considered "jobs". I am referring to those positions that are sub-poverty level income like minimum wage/under forty weekly hours with lousy benefits (or non at all). Making 10k or less a year is not making it. Under 19k is, last I heard, at or under the poverty line.
