Afghanistan is another Viet Nam,it's a quagmire our country is having to fight,I wonder how many of the Afghan troops are Taliban.
The best solution to Afghanistan is bring all our troops home, and let that third world toilet just flush itself.
In a way Afghanistan is responsible for what happened at Ft Hood, only if you spent time in combat will you understand where I'm coming from, and should have the intelligence to try to feel not only for the families of those killed and wounded, but also that doctor who did this horrible thing.
Only if you are a combat veteran, can you understand what PTSD can do to someone.
BRING ALL OF OUR TROOPS HOME.

It's too bad we have such an incompetent commander-in-chief. The morale of both our soldiers and the Afghan people is down. The Taliban is strengthening. What a mess.

These Afghans sure are ingrates, not to mention wrong and out of line. Imagine being afraid of more troops in their country...Ha! What could they possibly done...that they haven't already done? Cause more chaos, mayhem, pillage, rape, mass murder? They're tough, they should be able to take that without any problem. After all, Americans only intention there is to...to find Osama bin Ladden? Kill Al Qaeda? Liberate the few women that are still alive? Bring democracy to them? Oh, hell...so many good intentions so little time but I'm sure that one of them is right or has been right at some point.

And, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, the pipeline to the Caspian Sea for EXXON, et al is NOT it! I repeat that is NOT it!

Finally americans got some brain and started to realize that they can not win war in Afghanistan and now trying to find ways to runaway from battle field.

The solution is very simple... Change your visa policy and let Afghanis come to US without any visa and import as much Afghanis as possible.

Very soon their will be very few people left in Afghanistan to fight and Taliban will be out numbered and eliminated.

I suspect that the Afghans, knowing more of their own history than we do, fear more for OUR safety than they do of theirs. To understand what I mean, try googling "Sepoy Mutiny" and any of the three "Anglo Afghan Wars"

The NYT doesn't want more troops and doesn't want the U.S. to win the war. Obama may think the same way. It is their take to destroy the U.S. and to discredit our country in the world arena. Whey they do it?. I don't know, but apparently they can sleep at night like babies.....It is like the Muslims that even in our Armed Forces wish the surrender and destroy our coutnry, like the shooter in Ft. Hood. It is in their DNA. The NYT, the liberals, Obama and gang they all belong to the same Club of anti-American SOB's. Well, nobody is going to destroy my country if I can stop it.

The hell with Afghanistan and Iraq. Especially Afghanistan which is the cradle of the attacks from al-Qaida. They should be destroyed and we should leave that hellhole afterwards and if they want to kill each other, fine with me. We should live in peace and without fear of attacks so that our kids and grandkids are safe. The eradication of the liberal crowd of nespapers and TV anchors should be priority number one when Conservatives take over in 2012.

For 1500 years leaders and commanders have realized the folly of trying to invade and conquer Afghanistan. And if bush had had his nose in history books instead of coloring books during his 8 year fiasco, he would have known this. He lived through the invasion by and repulsion of the Soviet Union's nightmare there, and STILL he invaded Afghanistan, and the USSR had a lot shorter supply line than we do. "Those who forget the mistakes of history are bound to repeat them." and bush did exactly that. Afghanis will solve their own problems and they don't need us. We're not there for any reasonable purpose and we will be driven out by a determined enemy with long-term interests there, just like Vietnam.

Why would the Afghan people support the US troops? They are fearful that the US will pack up and leave & leave the few supporters to face the Taliban's wrath. I hate having our troops fight wars, but we must stay & finally destroy Al Qaeda & the Taliban. We must not leave this region Un-policed........Pakistan has Nuclear Weapons that must never fall in to the wrong hands. Finish the Job..........

The New York Times is such a sorry ass liberal leftist spin yellow rag. They're backing up our lilly livered yellow bellied miserable excuse for a commander in chief. All he cares about is his silly ass obamacare. He has screwed our American fighting soldiers.

Liberals live in a dream world, insulted by their Ipods and Blackberries, capuccinos and lattes. They ignore the very real fact that radical Islam is determined to kill all the infidels. They forget 9/11. The muslims will not hesitate to bring their jihad to American soil if we turn tail and run.

We cannot win a war in Afghanistan (or anywhere else) if we don't allow our military to do whatever is necessary to win. And, sadly, our leaders (especially that idiot in the White House) are far more interested in not offending world opinion than they are in allowing our military to accomplish their assigned task. This not only jeopardizes the war effort, it also leads to the preventable death of American troops.

More and more of our tacticians and military strategists are saying we should not be there. We had the Taliban on the ropes and bin Laden cornered in 2002 but then we moved our resources to Iraq for a senseless bloodbath for that country and pretty much neglected Afghanistan. It appears we mishandled it as bad as the Iraqi fiasco. The Taliban are back in power and Al Qaeda is retrenched and stronger than ever but not now located in Afghanistan. We need to get out. Our presence is only antagonistic to the Afghan people and has been a motivator for the worldwide Al Qaeda recruiters.

Sounds like a NYT cover story for Obama's lack of leadership. Obama has known the recommended troop numbers for victory since March, when he announced how important this war is. (Liar)

Obama said in March "...we will use all elements of our national power to defeat al Qaeda, and to defend America"

General McChrystal's assessment hit President Obama's desk at the end of August, almost three months after he took command. And yet now in November , the decision on additional forces has yet to be submitted.

In a way, I don't blame the Afghan people for not wanting anymore U.S. troops sent over there. They think that we haven't done a damn thing for them in the eight years since the war with Afghanistan started, so why continue? Their pessimistic view of the Taliban's existence is not to be discounted. The Taliban, Al-Qaeda and other religious extremists are like a cancer in that part of the world. You get rid of them in one place, and they just reappear the next week in another region. Also, I think the Afghan people see what we did in Iraq and don't want any part of it. We can call it anything we want, but it's nation-building, IMO. As long as U.S. troops occupy Muslim land, America will be in danger of continued war and terrorist attacks on our shores. God bless America.

Bush was so "out of touch" that we have not been attacked since 9/11/2001. He did his job to keep America safe.

The Obama admin. is going back to a pre 9/11 mentality. The left wing nuts are more concerned about prosecuting Americans than protecting our troops.

If this administration does not have the balls to fight the enemy, they need to bring ALL troops home.

We can beat the Taliban but first Obama needs to wake up, get his head out of his ass and and start doing what the Top USA Military leaders say we need to do. My guess is Obama is going to take easy way out and he will not confront Iran on their nuclear weapons program and in 10 years all these terrorist networks in the middle east will have nukes. Then what?

We should bring our boys home and let the people over there fight for their own country....... If they aren't willing, the hell with them. We shouldn't be spilling our blood. Next time we have a 9/ll and we find out they were trained there, nuke them..... ALL and, let it be a warning to the other countries.

Your cell phone is in your pocket.
He clutches the cross hanging on his chain next to his dog tags.

He knows he may not see some of his buddies again.

You walk down the beach, staring at all the pretty girls.
He patrols the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists.

He's told he will be held over an extra 2 months.

You call your girlfriend and set a date for tonight.
He waits for the mail to see if there is a letter from home.

You hug and kiss your girlfriend, like you do everyday.
He holds his letter close and smells his love's perfume.

You roll your eyes as a baby cries.
He gets a letter with pictures of his new child, and wonders if they'll ever meet.

You criticize your government, and say that war never solves anything.
He sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own people and remembers why he is fighting.
