Clinic Apologizes for Telling Muslim Doctor She Can't Wear Headscarf

So the kid at Home Depot is not allowed to wear a God button, but she can wear a head scarf.

Please don't get me wrong I realize they work at different places but still.....

Why should an exception be made for her just because of her religion? If other people aren't allowed to wear head-ware neither should she.

Now that they were stupid enough to apologize to her, they will probably buy her a special rug to pray on in the waiting room while a Christian patient can't bow his head in silent prayer. Muslim women cover because it is an obligation in Qur'an *sura 24:31 and sura 33:59*. We cover to be known as righteous women, so we are not molested or harassed and because we value our beauty so much that we believe it should be only shown to our husbands. We cover for the sake of modesty. Not all Muslim women in the USA are immigrants. Some are born here making them American citizens. Others, like myself are Americans who converted to Islam. Hijab is not a hat. By wearing hijab it forces men to respect us for our minds, not our bodies. Islam says both men and women should lower their gaze when around the opposite sex. I'm a white American convert to Islam and I cover my hair and face. I am not a threat to anyone.

I don't believe in violence or war. I believe in helping the innocent, the orphans, the abused animals, the poor, the elderly. If you can not respect my decision to wear hijab and niqab and are "afraid" of me for wearing them and can't make communicatin with me because of prejudice that is your loss. I can hear perfectly well with hijab on and communicate well in niqab.

I believe in doing the right thing but this is totally the wrong thing. Apolologize ? Never ! She is the one who needs to apologize for not living within the operational and safety standards of a country she CHOSE to live in. Let her try to do the same where she came from. It would never happen. She PRETENDS to have a grievance but is REALLY just taunting us and our society. Wake up. In the last few decades this country has bowed to the whims of foreigners' cultures/customs. Whatever happened to assimilating to this country's language, cultures and customs? As soon as they started printing Spanish everywhere, I knew our country would be lost. This is just another example of it. Now there is a report that 700 million people would rather live in another country. It's reported 35% of those want to live here. We haven't seen anything yet. The USA has caved in! I'd bet you that she is disappointed because she was waiting for them to stick to their initial statements, that way she could've sued the doctors, Hospital and even the janitors. Muslims do that all the time. They know the law better than us and sometimes provoke these altercations. She probably didn't wear any scarf before she applied for that job.

Wasn't one of America's founding principles the freedom of religion? What if all the Jewish people were asked never to wear their Yarmulkes? All the Christian's were asked never to wear their cross necklaces or any other representation of their faith's? Then everyone here would be singing a different tune. Why is it that Christian sysmbols are being removed but all other religions can freely display anything they want? It should really be fiar - either work places and school and government agencies allow ALL religious symbols or none.
